Insurance Journal Interviews Peter Halprin on How New York Became a Leader in State Cyber Regulation
Insurance Journal editor Elizabeth Blosfield interviewed Peter Halprin on the Insuring Cyber Podcast about New York’s leadership in state cyber regulation and insurance coverage for cyber regulatory actions. Peter represents commercial policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters including those involving cyber breaches and cyber crime.
On the podcast, Peter discussed the New York Department of Financial Services’ (DFS) issuance of cyber regulations (known as Part 500) and the DFS’ regulatory action against First American Title Insurance Company. Peter described Part 500 as “a tsunami through the world of financial services” and noted that the DFS regulatory action should cause risk professionals “to pause, reflect, and think about what may come and what we should expect in the U.S.” and beyond.
