Human Trafficking and Insurance Coverage Implications for the Hospitality Industry –Mikaela Whitman Authors Daily Journal Article

Human trafficking is a global problem that has increasing insurance coverage implications for the hospitality industry. According to a 2020 Federal Human Trafficking Report, 170 federal human trafficking lawsuits were initiated against hotels in 2019 and 2020, including a series of high-profile lawsuits against some of the largest and most well-known international hotel management and franchise companies. The majority of these lawsuits are brought under the Trafficking Victim Protection Act (TVPA). In her article for Daily Journal, Partner Mikaela Whitman discusses why the hospitality industry, and in particular hotels/motels, should consider the potential insurance implications and coverage for TVPA related claims.  Read the full article here.
