As Internet-connected devices and infrastructure become more widespread, cyber incidents involving such devices are more likely to cause physical damage and other harms that will implicate coverage under a number of insurance lines. In an interview with Law360, Partner Peter Halprin addressed the broadening vulnerabilities created by the Internet of Things (IoT) and what the future holds for the insurance industry.
“It’s kind of too early to tell where it ultimately ends up,” Halprin said, referring to disputes over coverage for IoT-related claims under various policies. “Down the line, I do think that insurance policies are going to be tested because we don’t always think of every possibility.”
