Elevated Cyber Risk from Russia-Ukraine Tensions Could Test U.S. Insurers’ War Exclusions: Peter Halprin Discusses with Thomson Reuters

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has warned that the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine poses an increased risk of cyberattacks. In an interview with Thomson Reuters, Partner Peter Halprin discussed how a cyberattack during this time could test the war exclusion in cyber insurance policies.

“The cyber insurance market is going through some growing pains now. As the market matures, events like this, unfortunately, will put the market to the test, and hopefully, it will evolve for the better,” Halprin said.

Halprin represents commercial policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters with a focus on recovery strategies in relation to cyber breaches and cyber crime. He is a Faculty Member with the Global Cyber Institute and obtained a certificate in “Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age” through HarvardX.
